This book literally has all the components I love when reading romance novels. Single dad. Second-chance romance. Sign me up!
It's safe to say that everything Penelope Ward writes, I will be there reading it. She is one of my all-time favorite author and I just never ever doubt her book. This book is no exception. Simply one of my favorites for this year and I just know I will read and re-read this book over and over again.
The story is about Francesca (Frankie) O'Hara being an elementary teacher. On the first day of the semester, she met the one that got away, Mackenzie Morrison A.K.A. Mack Daddy. She and Mack had history in college, and she never imagined to meet Mack after all these years. Frankie is in a relationship, so she is conflicted to know that Mack wanted to rekindle their friendship and reconnect with her.
This book is all about second chances, taking chances, and believing. It's beautiful to see Mack's persistence despite Frankie's reluctance. Now I just have to say it here first off so that people with cheating pet peeve will not be put off. No, there is no cheating whatsoever in this book. At least, not physically. Frankie is troubled with her attraction towards Mack but she never let it cloud her judgement, if anything it made her more reluctant to just leave her boyfriend and take a chance with Mack.
The writing is just beautiful, Mack is such a wonderful hero to read and a guy you can't help but love, and this is a beautiful read for me. Read it in one sitting. Recommended!!
